Unlike dynamic braking which dissipates braking energy in the form of heat, the R1000 and D1000 regenerative units avoid wasted energy by delivering it back to the power source. It is important to know the differences between the R1000 and D1000 regenerative units.

R1000

The R1000 power regenerative unit is a fundamental front end (FFE) alternate solution to dynamic braking which puts regenerative energy back onto the grid. The DC bus is unregulated when using the R1000 and iTHD (total harmonic current distortion) is about 40-50%.

D1000

The D1000 regenerative converter is a low harmonic, active front end (AFE) alternate solution to dynamic braking which puts regenerative energy back onto the grid. It delivers power to the drive via DC bus and can be used in a single-drive or multi-drive common bus system where the DC bus is regulated. The D1000 is also IEEE-519 compliant where the iTHD (total harmonic current distortion) is less than 5%.
