Using Network Option Cards with the GA500 Drive & Replacing a V1000 With an Option Card to a GA500
Topic Description

The GA500 drive has the capability of interfacing with various network communication protocols. However, an option carrier kit is required. Refer to the table below to see all network communication protocols compatible with the GA500 drive.

Note:

  • Any network option card compatible with the V1000 is compatible with the GA500.
  • The network protocol Modbus RTU is built into the GA500 drive.

Resolution

When using a network communication option card with the GA500 drive, the part # JOHB-GA50 (option carrier) is required for mounting purposes. Refer to the following documents as needed:

When using a network option card and transitioning from a V1000 drive to a GA500 drive, the protective cover from the V1000 drive will need to be separated from the option card. Also, part # JOHB-GA50 (option carrier) must be used as well.

  • Note:
    This also applies when using an option card with "/V" such as "SI-EN3/V".

    JOHB-GA50 kit is IP20 enclosure. GA500 drive with a Type 1 kit and the JOHB-GA50 installed, will make the entire drive IP20.
