Setting and Checking the Serial Number in the Control Board of a GA800, GA500, HV600 and FP605 Drives
Topic Description

Replacement control boards in GA800, GA500, HV600 and FP605 drives do NOT have the serial number flashed onto them. It is highly recommended and necessary to set the serial number in the control board for the following reasons:

  • Backing up parameter settings and drive information on the DriveWizard cloud.
  • Viewing the serial number from the Drive Information page as opposed to the label on the front and side of face cover. 

Follow the steps below to view the drive serial number using the keypad:

  1. Press the F2 (Menu) key.
  2. Press the UP or DOWN arrow key to select Diagnostic Tools, then press ENTER (middle key).
  3. Press the UP or DOWN arrow key to select Drive Information, then press ENTER (middle key). The drive information including serial number will be displayed.

The serial number can also be view from the physical front and side labels:

 

 


Resolution

Follow the procedure below to set the serial number on the control board of a GA800, GA500, HV600 and FP605 Drives. The software DriveWizard Industrial or HVAC is required along with the proper flash cable. (Refer to the following document for cable part numbers Difference between PC communications, flash cables and Mobile Device Interface Cables)

  1. Connect to the drive and go online. Make sure DriveWizard states "ONLINE" at the bottom of the window.

     
  2. From the DriveWizard  home screen, click on "File" on the top left.

     
  3. Click on “Maintenance” on the left side.

     
  4. Click on “Set Serial Number”.

     
  5. Enter the drive serial number and click “Set”.

     
  6. Click "Yes" when asked "This process cannot be undone. Do you wish to continue?"
    • Note:  By clicking "Cancel", the serial number can be verified and changed if needed.  
    • WARNING: The serial number can ONLY be written once.
  7. Re-enter serial number for validation purposes.

     
  8. Select "Verify" after entering the serial number again.

     
  9. Click "Yes" to verify the serial number and send to the drive.

     
  10. The message "Drive Serial Number set successfully" should appear with the new serial number.
