An external HOA (Hand-Off-Auto) switch can be used with certain drive models where AUTO mode selects PID control (PI control), HAND mode selects a potentiometer (speed pot) as the frequency reference, and OFF stops all output from the drive. This applies to the following industrial drive models:

• GA800
• GA500
• A1000
• P1000
• U1000
• V1000

Note: A DPDT (double pole double throw) switch or additional contacts are needed for this to work properly.

Set the following parameters when using an HOA switch for PID control (AUTO) and a potentiometer (HAND).

• b1-01 = 1 (Frequency Reference Selection 1 = Analog Input)
• b1-02 = 1 (Run Command Selection 1 = Digital Inputs)
  • Note: This allows for a run command from the HOA switch in either AUTO or HAND.
• H1-03 = 19 (Multi-Function Digital Input Terminal S3 = PID Disable)
  • Note: This allows for the HAND command to disable PID mode using terminal S3.
